About Tom Miller

Tom's research focus has been applied statistics and modeling. He has designed and conducted numerous empirical and simulation studies comparing traditional and data-adaptive methods, and he is regarded as an expert in the area of data mining. His business consulting has covered a wide range of applications, including market segmentation, measurement, product design and positioning, pricing, sales forecasting, and retail site selection. Tom has consulted in these areas for more than thirty years. Through Research Publishers LLC, he provides business research and modeling services under the Help2O name and sports intelligence under the Without a Tout name. Tom teachs economics and psychology at Madison College. He is also an active member of Union Cab, a worker-owned cooperative in Madison, Wisconsin. Previously, Tom was director of the A.C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research. He managed the Center's research and training program and taught in the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior academic appointments were at the University of Oregon, Hamline University, and the University of Minnesota. Tom’s past employment also included technical, sales, and marketing positions with Hewlett-Packard and NCR Comten.
